Summer camp in Gurgaon creating awareness among school students about road safety rules

An ongoing fiveday summer camp in Gurgaon is trying to create awareness about the road safety rules among school students and bridge the communication gap between citizens and police The summer camp having four batches of 40 students has witnessed participation from students between 11 and 16 years of age All the activities are being organised at the Road Safety Knowledge Centre in Sector 51 between 9 am and 1230pm The camp was inaugurated by Gurgaon’s Commissioner of Police Navdeep Singh Virk on Monday The participating students are being given sessions by traffic police on road safety lessons including road rules traffic law selfdefense Along with traffic cops the participants also get to identify traffic rules offenders and challan them Besides that the kids would get an opportunity to visit Police reserve training battalion center at Bhondsi The kids would also indulge in outdoor activities like horse riding It also includes the task of auditing certain roads for availability of all road safety precautions and will make their report with the help from experts On the concluding day the kids have to present a power point presentation to show what all they have learnt during the camp “We want them to understand the rules and regulation and how traffic operates in the city This will also help them in understanding the level of responsibility every citizen should demonstrate in following traffic rules We wish them all the best for their future and hope they become brand ambassador for Gurgaon to spread awareness about road safety in the city” stated Bharti Arora Joint Commissioner of Police Traffic
